New Toy

So when Apple came out with the new MacBook a week or so ago, I planned on getting one in August. See, I’ve been very lucky to have an iBook to use as part of my job, but as I’m leaving that job in August, the iBook must go back leaving me in need of a new laptop. However, the impulsive part of me won out: see, Apple has 90 days same-as-cash financing so I can pay it off in August, which is basically the same thing as me buying it in August in the first place, right? Only I get it now.*

Here it is taking a picture of itself, thanks to that fancy built-in webcam and our bathroom mirror:

I got the 2 GHz + SuperDrive model – in white, as you can see. As sweet as the slick, black Darth MacBook was, I couldn’t justify paying an extra 150 bucks just for a paint job. I’ve got 2 GBs of RAM on the way in the mail, and I plan on upgrading the HD to a 100+GB 7200 RPM drive sometime later this summer. (Which, by the way, is super easy to do, a first for an Apple laptop.

*I’ve tried to come up with better rationalizations than this. For example, I have to write a lot this summer, and I love the new widescreen b/c it’s wide enough for me to simultaneously have a Word document and have a PDF article viewable on the screen at the same time – a huge advantage actually. See, I needed this thing now. I mean, hey, at least I didn’t justify buying it to make a Star Wars Kid Parody or anything.
