Stickies Tiling Behavior

As readers of this blog will know, I’m a tad obsessive about window behavior. I’m currently setting up my father-in-law’s new Macbook and, seeing as he’s a fan of real-life sticky notes, I thought I’d show him the Stickies application. I noticed one odd thing about Stickies: it has a different tiling behavior than all other Apple apps. Instead of placing each new window about 20 pixels down and 20 pixels right of the previous window, Stickies actually tiles them corner-to-corner. So in other words if you’ve got a Sticky open and open a new one, it lines up the top of the new sticky with the bottom of the current sticky. Why is it Apple sees the utility of this tiling approach in Stickies, of all places, but not in, say, Finder or Terminal?
