I Voted

Because there’s a chance we will be out of town on election day, we both requested absentee ballots this year & I just filled mine out. I’ve never done this before, so it was kind of a fun experience.
Aside from not having to wait in line on election day, voting by mail has some other advantages. For example, I usually go to the Star Tribune’s MyVote page to read up on the smaller local elections prior to heading to the polls. This time, I was able to just sit down with the ballot and fill it out with the information in front of me.
Of course, it’s always fun to see the kinds of silly things some of the local candidates say in their short blurbs. For example, one candidate for county soil and water supervisor began his statement, “I strongly agree that a marriage should only be between a man and a woman.” Whew! As soil and water supervisor, I’m sure that’d come up lots. Another candidate for the school board listed as her only endorsements 8 local middle & high school students. Aww, how cute…
